Yesterday’s Spring Craft Fair at Leamington Town Hall raised about £1,200. Thanks to all the stall holders, volunteers and customers who helped with this great effort. See you there again at Christmas!
Thanks to the generosity of organiser, Jonathan Smith, we were able to attend the first Leamington Business Show, held at the Town Hall on Friday 27th February. It was a great event, with over 70 local companies exhibiting and lots of visitors which gave us a chance to network and make some valuable contacts.
Our very busy fund raising year came to a close with our traditional collection at the Royal Priors in Leamington. Busy shoppers enjoying the January sales and relaxed after Christmas were in a generous mood (as usual) and donated £874.50 to the Ebola Crisis Appeal.
We had been so pleased with the results of our first Christmas Raffle in 2013 that we just had to have another one – which raised a fantastic £2,362.00. Ninety-one year old Audrey Gerrons, the oldest volunteer at the Save the Children shop in Regent Street, made the draw on December 19th and the winning tickets were:
A three night weekend stay in a five-star Cotswold holiday cottage Ticket 00277
A gift basket from McIntosh & Paul of Leamington Spa Ticket 02564

We are very grateful to everyone who donated prizes and purchased tickets. We are now planning our 2015 Christmas Raffle and would love to hear from anyone who is able to donate a prize or who can sell tickets for us.
We are always delighted when other people decide to raise funds for us and out of the blue we received a cheque for £115.29 from the staff at the Leamington campus of Warwickshire College. It was great having an opportunity to meet up with Sue Georgious (Interim Principal) and Angela Northam (Student Recruitment Team member) and to collect the cheque.
We donned our thermal long johns again on 14th December – although it was the wind that was the problem, rather than the cold – and had a stall at the Leamington Yuletide Market (thanks to the generosity of market organisers E G Sketts who we will miss working with in the future). We ran our very popular logo game of chance and sold tickets for the Christmas raffle – and battled with the gusty wind all day but still managed to raise £219.19.
We were again the partner charity at The Christmas Craft Shopping Experience held at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on 7th December. The centre has recently been extended and it was packed with a fabulous range of hand made crafts and other goodies and made a wonderful ‘one-stop’ place for Christmas shopping. There was a ‘Frozen’ grotto this year – we gave Santa a break as we know how busy he was getting ready for the big day but we had a tombola (with some gorgeous soft toys donated by Johnson & Johnson as prizes), sold Christmas cards, home made cakes, knitwear and raffle tickets and raised £403.31.
Members of the University of Warwick Choir supported us again this year and sang beautifully for nearly two hours on 11th December to entertain the late shoppers in the Royal Priors. A total of £259.41 was raised – a great total in such a short time. A big thank you to them all and the helpful Royal Priors staff.
As part of our national Christmas Jumper Day which was supported last year by George at ASDA, we collected at the Leamington store on 5th and 6th December and their ever generous customers donated a grand total of £624.96 so a big thank you to them and to the staff at ASDA for making us so welcome.
